Under my umbrella
|
| |

KDU College students are asking everyone to walk under their umbrella – Walkabrella that is. As part as their academic project, 95 public relations students from the Diploma in Mass Communication program are organizing a fund-raiser for their CSR project. The name Walkabrella comes from the phrase Walk-for-a-Cause and the word umbrella! The umbrella actually represents us! The whole idea of this cause is to create awareness among the public about Cerebral Palsy (CP) and to highlight the plight of those living with CP. They also aim to have the largest participation in such event and make it to The Malaysian Book or Records.

Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPLLCTM) is the selected home as the beneficiary of their project. A total of 138 children from the home are orphans or from difficult family background. And most of them are diagnosed with various disorders such as Down Syndrome, Dwarfism, and intellectual disabilities. Join their cause to help spread the awareness…
Date : 6th December 2009 (Sunday)
Time : 8.00amd to 1.00pm
Venue : Central Park, Bandar Utama
Fee : RM 10.00 / per participant
Freebies : Umbrellas % Goody bags!

Just Blend It Up
|
| |
With many festivals just around the corner and Deepavali coming very soon, it’s no wonder people are in a festival mood. Taylor’s School of Hospitality and Tourism just held a Hodge Podge Festival to celebrate the different cultures in the world. Kicking things off was a traditional Chinese lion dance and a ribbon cutting ceremony. There were also many exciting and interesting booths, display, traditional performances, fashion show, and also painting demonstration by the artists from Foot and Mouth. All and all, RM2000 was donated to charity. Hooray to Taylor’s!

Showing a Great Heart
|
| |
Hello everyone! How’s Raya so far? Although it’s almost ending but it feels like the Ramadan season is still in the air with delicious aroma from the chicken rendang! Our friends at KDU celebrated Raya by visiting the Persatuan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in conjunction with its “Bread Story” project.

The team of KDU students, staff and parents visited the Home and delivered yummy muffins. Dress in pretty pink, the older girls and the younger girls at the Home played, learned, celebrated, and also munch on delicious cookies with the KDU team.

Most of the kids are either orphans who were neglected or abused or the family are too poor to care for them. Doesn’t that make us think a little – that not everyone can have family and new clothes every year?

Brainy students get rewarded!
|
| |
Are you smart enough? Because some lucky students from UCSI University were rewarded for being smart! On the 29th September 2009, 426 lucky UCSI students were presented with certificates and scholarships worth RM 2.95 million – that’s like almost RM 3 million! One of the students was Tiew Kee Yee who received the Tan Sri Ahmad Razali scholarship. Tiew was one of the 426 students that were not only smart and have outstanding academic achievements but they are also active members in extra-curricular activities. All the scholarships fully cover the fees and etc throughout the student’s duration at the university. Wow!

Help Our “Best Friend”
|
| |
Run Forest, run! Run for your life! In conjunction of PAWS Malaysia, Sky Adventure Club of Taylor’s University College will be running a charity fund raising event called the AdventuRUN 2009! The whole idea of this event is to incorporate the spirit of adventure in a run. Moreover, all profits will be donated to the animal-friendly, PAWS. It’s to help raise, not only funds but also awareness on the deteriorating welfare of domestic pets. This event also brings fun with performances and games sessions. So, let’s put our hands and legs together to help our four-legged friend at Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras on the 4th of October 2009 at 6am to 12pm. Don’t miss it!
