After a week of intense competition with the world’s brightest young minds, two Malaysian teams from University Sains Malaysia - Team Cosmic and Team Capricorn – were announced winners of the first and third prize for the Unlimited Potential (UP) Design for Development Award!! Team cosmic of USM took home the first prize of US$10,000(RM36, 000) by going through other 149 teams from 70 countries for the prestigious award. Team Cosmic’s award winning idea that impresses the judges is “Virtual Health Connect.” The solution aims to help parents keep track of their children’s immunization schedules automatically by sending SMS reminders to parents ahead of a scheduled vaccination; a solution that targets to reduce mortality rate for children under-five by increasing global immunization coverage. While team Capricorn came back with US$1000 prize for their “GreenEve2Peace” Invention.“Imagine Cup provides an excellent platform for students around the world to explore new ways to use the power of software to address some of the world’s toughest challenges.” Stated Microsoft Malaysia’s Managing Director, Yasmin Mahmood. Imagine Cup, empowers students to unlock their creative genius and build solutions that tackle real-world issues facing society today. Next year’s Imagine Cup 2010 Worldwide Finals will take place in Poland, a country with a track record of producing highly skilled IT students as well as successful Imagine Cup entrants. Registrations for Imagine Cup 2010 open on July 8, 2009. Kudos to Team Cosmic and Team Capricorn!! You make us Malaysian Proud!!

A total of 97 graduates completed their two and a half years Diploma in the field of Advertising/Marketing Communications, Mass Communication and Creative Multimedia at Kuala Lumpur, 4th July The Saujana Resorts, Subang Jaya 2009 The graduates received their diplomas from Y. Bhg. Datuk Vincent Lee, Chairman of IACT, Peter Anthony Das, President of MAA and Lee Kok Leong, Executive Director of IACT.
IACT initially started as a Joint Education Committee of the Malaysian Advertisers’ Association (MAA) and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents, Malaysia (4As) in the early 1970s and progressed to a full-fledged Education Institute in 1993. Founded and endorsed by the MAA and 4As, IACT has more than 25 years of experience in training and education.

During the ceremony, graduates were awarded with a Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) recognised IACT Diploma and an internationally recognised Diploma in Marketing Communications from International Advertising Association (IAA), New York. IACT is the only education institution in Malaysia accredited by IAA, a worldwide organization that represents the common interests of advertisers, agencies and the media. With this international Diploma, graduates will gain the opportunity of furthering their career in various industries, globally.

A meaningful Award

H.E. Abdelaziz Aboughosh is giving Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing the Distinguished World Citizen of Peace and Humanity award.
“God willing, in my own lifetime, I will see peace over a united Palestine.” said Tan Sri Lim after receiving from H.E. AbdelAziz Abougosh, ambassador of the State Of Palestine .On July 2 at Kuala Lumpur, the founder president of Lim Kok Wing, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, a strong supporter for peace in the state of Palestine called for a peaceful outcome for the War-torn land. “Heal the World”, is also one of Tan Sri Lim’s efforts for peace. H.E. Abdelaziz Aboughosh appreciates Tan Sri Lim’s efforts and articles which aim to emlighten people regarding Palestinian struggles to regain their rights. Lim Kok Wing University has also put together a song called lets heal the world which has been broadcasted over television. Among awards received by Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, this award, the Distinguished World Citizen of Peace and Humanity award tops his list as the most meaningful award. Kudos to you Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.
